The fringe incorporates geometric and floral patterns which are a nod to the symbolic motifs found in Huipiles. The beaded portion is hung from a hypoallergenic stainless steel ball post which helps the earring stay in place and prevent it from weighing down the earlobe. These earrings are handwoven by women artisans from vulnerable communities in Medellin, Colombia and receive fair working conditions and compensation for their skills.
